Breweries and beer pragues. The best restaurants and pubs in Prague "La Casa Argentina". Argentine restaurant in Prague

I think it's not a secret for many that Prague is famous for its low prices for alcohol and its nightlife. At the weekend, a lot of foreigners come to the city - primarily the British and Germans, who pay tribute to the low prices of booze compared to the rest of Europe. There are a lot of bars in Prague, here everyone will find a bar to their taste - from glamorous to underground. In many bars you can dance, in others you can taste delicious drinks. In this article, I will tell you about the best bars in the city, from my point of view, and what they may be of interest to you.

I want to start with a story about the bars located on Dlouhá street. Here, bars are located at every turn, and it is not surprising that this street never sleeps. Therefore, if you do not like it in one place, you can safely move to another.

The Czech Republic is famous for its numerous establishments with delicious beer and inexpensive food. We will talk about restaurants, cafes and bars that stand out from the rest with their unique atmosphere and unusual history.

Medieval tavern "At the King of Brabant" (Krčma U krále Brabantského)

One of the oldest Prague taverns, opened in 1375, is shrouded in many secrets and legends.

Rumor has it that city alchemists, the executioner Mydlarzh, the brilliant Mozart, the great Yaroslav Gashek and countless charlatans of all stripes liked to drop in here. Such a diverse audience created an atmosphere of real freedom, which can be felt today. Visitors are served traditional Czech cuisine and delicious beer. Well, the main "feature" of the tavern is a medieval show.

From Tuesday to Saturday from 19:00 to 22:00, the institution takes its guests back hundreds of years - before their eyes, under the old musical motifs, a duel of pirates takes place, charming dancers perform, fakirs command fire.

The entourage of the Middle Ages complements the interior of the tavern: antique furniture, skulls on the ceiling, candlesticks on the tables - everything is done so that the visitor forgets what year it is.

It is impossible not to mention the staff of the tavern: for the duration of the show, they transform into a typical medieval rabble. At any request from a guest, the waitress can shout: “First, send my money!”, Well, or even easier - refuse to return the change. If the client still insists on a refund, she will bring them in a skull and hit them on the table with all her might. Such morals, there's nothing to be done.

Recommended to try: pork ribs baked in honey with spicy sauce(PEčená vepřová žebírka na medu s pikantní omáčkou)

Address : Thunovská 198/15, PRAHA 1 - Malá Strana

The cost of the show: 195 crowns (8 euros)

primeval restaurantPravek

To be in the Stone Age, it is not necessary to invent a time machine, just visit a restaurant in the center of Prague. Rock paintings, stone chairs, roughly knocked down wooden tables, skins of dead saber-toothed tigers and mammoth tusks on the walls - all this makes the interior of the establishment truly original. The actors of the show program together with the waiters will help you feel like a contemporary of the Flintstones. Together they portray real savages - hooting, snapping, walking with a ridiculous gait, banging drums and much more. Let it be a surprise for guests.

To give just a small example: try to order from a waiter in a loincloth, who answers all questions with incoherent sounds “u”, “u”, “u-u-u-u”. You can safely forget about cutlery for the duration of the show - you have to eat with your hands. Stone Age, anyway.

We recommend trying: potato soup with mushrooms in bread

Address: there are three restaurants in Prague under the Pravěk sign, but the primitive show takes place exclusively in the oldest of them at Sokolská 60, Praha 2

Cost and time of the show: from 18:00 to 23:00 on weekdays, from 11:30 to 23:30 on weekends.

Old Bohemian restaurant "Monastic Tavern" (Klášterní šenk)

Usually Czechs are not very fond of restaurants with national cuisine, especially if the prices in them are above average - they can cook all the same food at home.

However, this place is always full of locals. Finding a free table without prior reservation is akin to real luck. The success of the institution is due to a number of factors, but the main one is the atmosphere of warmth, kindness and tranquility. This is because the restaurant is located on the territory of the existing Břevnov Monastery, the oldest in the Czech Republic. It was founded in the distant year 993 and has experienced many upheavals since then. During various wars, the monastery was completely destroyed several times, but was again restored by hard-working monks of the Benedictine order. The motto of the order: "Pray and work."

Benedictines of the Břevnov Monastery

Interestingly, immediately after the founding of the monastery, they began to brew beer in it. Břevnov brewery is the oldest in the Czech Republic and is famous for its brewing traditions. In the restaurant, you can see this for yourself by ordering one of the types of the Benedict monastery variety. Not only beer, but also the cuisine here is very good: everything is very tasty, starting from the bread that the monks themselves bake, and ending with the pork knee, without exaggeration - the best in the city.

Recommended to try: baked pork knee

Beer pubThePUB

Heaven for all beer lovers. The concept of the establishment is simple, like everything ingenious: each table is equipped with a beer dispensing system with four taps. No more waiting for the waiter - pour and drink. Liters consumed are counted electronically and displayed on a touchscreen, which allows you to remotely order drinks and dishes.

The bar became so popular that it opened branches in many Czech cities and even other countries.

Another interesting thing is that information is collected via the Internet about the amount of beer drunk in a particular institution at each particular table and is broadcast on a large screen. If you come in a friendly company, you can compete in the international "litreball" with "athletes" from Germany, Austria and Romania.

Recommended to try: baked savory chicken wings with homemade barbecue sauce (PUB Wings)

Address : Veleslavinova 3, Prague 1

Website: http://www.thepub.cz/

Restaurant "Locomotive depot" (Vytopna)

An original institution that will completely delight children and adults. The duties of the waiters here do not include serving drinks, trains do it instead. Rails are connected to each table, along which the wagons with mugs and glasses are pulled by a locomotive. After the arrival of the train, visitors need to pick up the ordered drinks and put an empty container in their place.

The restaurant simultaneously employs 15 realistic models of locomotives from different eras. Particularly impressive is their power (each such baby is able to pull 12 mugs of beer) and speed (up to 20 km/h). The average cost of one model is about 800 euros.

Address: Václavske nám. 56 (palác Fénix), Prague 1

Coyotes Bar (Coyotes Praha)

Great place for nightlife lovers main feature which are incendiary dances of beauties on the bar counter. Sexy barmaids not only famously dance to well-known hits, but also demonstrate mastery of fire, water and all other elements.

It's like in the famous movie "Coyote Ugly". The atmosphere of truly unbridled fun here can be eaten with spoons.

Address : Male namesti 2, Praha 1

Show time: daily, every 30 minutes from 22:00

Website : http://www.coyotesprague.cz

Vegetarian restaurant "Legka hlava" (Lehká hlava)

Prague is a meat city. On every street, on every corner you can smell boiled, fried, stewed or raw meat. Vegetarians have a hard time, but they also have an outlet. Cafe "Legkaya Golova" fully justifies its name. Stunning interior, melodious music, delicious food, crackling wood in the fireplace - everything you need for a sincere meeting or a cozy pastime alone with your thoughts and your favorite book. There is a really special energy here, which is difficult to describe, but you can feel it.

Address : Boršov 2/280, Praha 1 - Staré Město

Cafe, bar and restaurantOBLACA

The restaurant, located in a recently renovated complex inside the Zizkov TV Tower, will take its visitors away from earthly problems to a height of 66 meters. At any time of the day, a gorgeous view of the beautiful Prague opens from here. The modern style of the restaurant is perfectly combined with the futuristic appearance of the tower itself, more like an alien rocket.

The sculptures of babies crawling on it, clearly not like earthly children, give the building a fantastic look (the author of the work is the famous Czech artist David Cherny). Dinner here can be a great idea for a date or a friendly meeting. Either way, it will be remembered for a long time. Note that in the tower there is a hotel consisting of only one room, the cost of one night in which is 1000 euros.

Address : Tower Park Praha, Mahlerovy sady 1, Praha 3

This is our list of the most unusual restaurants in Prague. What do you know?

A large number of restaurants, cafes and pubs in Prague can satisfy all tourists. At the same time, prices here are much lower than in other capital cities of Europe. A dinner for two people will cost on average from 15 to 50 euros, the difference in cost is due to the location of such a restaurant. The closer it is to the central square of the city (Old Town Square), the higher the price of dishes will be.

Read in this article

  • You can have an inexpensive lunch on weekdays if the sign “denní nabídka” hangs on the restaurant. A three-course business lunch will cost up to 150 CZK.
  • It is necessary to pay attention to the volume of the served dish. Portions in the Czech Republic are quite large. Take, for example, the Boar Knee, which weighs 1.5 kg!
  • By the cost of beer, you can judge the price segment of the entire restaurant. If the price of one glass is at the level of 35-40 crowns, then such an institution will not be a budget option.
  • The menu, compiled in Russian, also indicates considerable upcoming costs. Such a move is designed exclusively for tourists who are able to overpay for their lunch.

List of the best and at the same time inexpensive restaurants

There are a lot of places where delicious food is served. But if you single out restaurants that have an ideal ratio of price, quality and comfort, then you should pay attention to the following:

"U Dvou Kocek"

This Czech restaurant is located at Uhelný trh 10, close to Wenceslas Square. Here, for 250 kroons, you can order traditional Czech cold cuts, consisting of smoked pork, roast duck, vegetables and tender veal. Such a dish is called "Česká bašta" and one serving is enough for 3-4 people. The famous "Boar Knee", which weighs from 1 to 1.5 kg, has the same cost.

"At Two Cats" is famous for its beer, which has been brewed here since the end of the 17th century, as well as for the variety of cuisine and hospitality. The room has several halls: a bar, a pub, a restaurant and a "cat room". Here, the entire interior contains elements of these animals, even some dishes and beer are reminiscent of cats.

  • White cat;
  • Striped cat;
  • Black cat;
  • Pilsner;
  • Master of darkness.

At the same time, the first three varieties are brewed at our own brewery. For a glass of such a drink, you will have to pay about 80 crowns (for 0.5 liters).

"U Bansethů"

This inexpensive restaurant is located at Táborská Street 389/49. It is famous for its beer, which in 2010 was awarded the title of "The Best Beer of the Capital". He was also mentioned by Yaroslav Gashek (writer and journalist) in his famous book "The Adventures of the Good Soldier Schweik", so one table is always booked just for him.

The establishment consists of several halls, both for smokers and non-smokers. Their atmosphere is somewhat different in design, but the main thing is that it inspires warmth and comfort. Starting from lunch, “Reserved” signs appear on the tables, which indicates the great popularity of this restaurant. The restaurant itself has a summer terrace that invites everyone to relax.

You can order from the menu delicious goulash, which will cost you only 90 CZK, or a traditional Czech dish: dumplings with cracklings. Its cost is slightly lower - 80 crowns. Doushi's Goulash will not leave anyone indifferent - a dish that is prepared exclusively according to the author's recipe. The menu itself is printed daily so that the waiters display which of the dishes is currently available.

The opening hours of the establishment are from 11 am to midnight.

"V Cipu"

There are two such restaurants, one is located near the Mustek metro station on the street of the same name, and the second one is located on Michalska street. Here you can have a tasty and cheap lunch / dinner in Prague and at the same time enjoy all the delights of the local cuisine. The menu itself cannot boast of a wide range, but traditional Czech dishes, as well as snacks and salads, are cooked here very tasty and at an affordable price. For example, a portion of 0.5 kg pork ribs will cost up to 100 crowns.

Spacious rooms allow even large companies to relax here, celebrating birthdays and corporate parties. As for the design, the classics prevail here, which provides a comfortable and cozy atmosphere for visitors of any age.

Zvonarka

The restaurant is located at: st. Šafarikova, 785/1. Few tourists come here, so this is an ideal place for those who want to plunge into the local atmosphere of Prague and its inhabitants. The summer terrace in the open air allows you to enjoy excellent appearance cities.

For 150-160 crowns, you can order Buffalo Wings, as well as other meat and fish dishes of local cuisine. The restaurant opens from 11:30 until midnight.

"Ferdinanda"

In total, there are two such restaurants in Prague: one on the street. Karmelitska, 18, the second - st. Opletalova. The institution is not always distinguished by calmness and comfort, as there are often live broadcasts of football matches. Fans of this sport can have a good time in the company of Czech fans, big screen TV, heady beer and delicious food.

The prices here are quite reasonable. For a good portion of beef goulash and a side dish, you need to pay no more than 130 kroons, a salad (300 g) costs 80 kroons. "Boar knee" weighing 1.9 kg will cost 335 crowns. A glass of brewed beer will cost up to 35 crowns. Its most popular varieties are:

  • "Garnet". It is recommended to combine it with pickled hermelin.
  • "7 bullets";
  • Ferdinand and others.

Generally popular inexpensive restaurants Prague can boast not only its affordable pricing policy, but also a cozy atmosphere, delicious cuisine, attentive staff and other advantages. They are happy to host tourists from all over the world and give unforgettable impressions of local dishes and drinks!

You will not believe it, but we really went around the best beer Prague, every single one! It was difficult, but what can not be done for the sake of dear readers. Beer in the Czech Republic is excellent and inexpensive, and also not very strong, so even the best beer restaurants in Prague can be visited at least every day without the risk of getting drunk and going broke. We did just that and today we present you the TOP 10 beer houses in Prague, which includes both large restaurants and small, but atmospheric bars. Sit down comfortably, the article turned out to be long and sincere, like a conversation in a Prague pub over a glass of Pilsen.

Oh, it's not an easy job to write an article after the Behemoth's pub!

How was this ranking made?

It's no secret that the Internet is full of ratings of the best beer houses in Prague even without us. And even more so, it's no secret that many of them (though not all) are carbon-copied based on reviews and other articles. And what did we do? We have previously studied the ratings of "The Best Beer in Prague" in Russian, English and Czech and compiled our own list of a dozen establishments that most often take prizes or simply receive excellent reviews from visitors. Then we took our list and (hic!) went around all these beer houses with a camera and a notepad so as not to forget anything. We were in Prague more than once or twice, there was plenty of time, so we didn’t run from one pub to another, but allocated a full evening for each of them. Wherein we tried to evaluate not only the taste, but also the atmosphere in these establishments. That's how our rating "Best beer Prague" was born by itself. So let's drink to the fact that our list of the TOP 10 beer houses in Prague will help you enjoy an incomparable Czech beer without a headache! You still have to go to the pub tomorrow. And the day after tomorrow too.

P.S.: we will not give prices in beer houses in Prague, because the cost may change, and our rating "Best beer in Prague" is eternal. Instead, after describing each pub, we will provide a link to its official website, where you can always find out the current prices for beer and food. For those establishments that have not yet got hold of the site, we will give a photo of the menu.

We also note that we liked absolutely all the establishments that were included in our rating "Best beer in Prague", and all of them are worthy of your attention. It was very difficult to sort them out. We remind you that everything in this world is subjective and your rating of the best beer restaurants and bars in Prague may be completely different.

And of course, Prague would not be Prague if there were no excursions with a "beer" bias in it. Therefore, you can test the best beer in Prague not only on your own with the help of our guide, but also on excursions in the company of a professional drunk guide:

The best beer in Prague: the most objective rating from Uehali.com

10th place: U Kalicha ("At the Chalice")

Perhaps the two most famous beer houses in Prague are "At the Golden Tiger" and "At the Chalice". In the first, Vaclav Havel and Bill Clinton drank beer, in the second - the good soldier Schweik himself. However, the website of the restaurant honestly says that Schweik was more interested not in the pub, but in the brothel located around the corner (by the way, the red lights of this institution opened up a picturesque view from the windows of one of the apartments that we rented in Prague). After talking with the ladies, Schweik (or whoever was his prototype) looked at the Chalice to restore his strength. So beer "At the Chalice" is often called - "At Schweik", and they simply transliterate from Latin to Cyrillic - “At Kalich”. Which is not so far from the truth, given the not-quite-ideal state of health of the brave soldier.

But you won't be fed up with legends. As for the beer itself, it is quite decent here, but not the best of what we drank in Prague. Having doubted our taste, we took a second mug each - this time a light one - again we were not impressed and went to the good old and trusted Fleck. Even the menu in Russian did not deter us.

Oh yes, fried cheese"At Kalich" is prepared simply incomparably. But somehow we didn’t come for cheese.

You may ask: why then did we include this place in our rating of "Best beer Prague to visit?" I think it's worth going to U Chasha beer, and not just for beer. Still, this is not just a restaurant, but a real attraction with a literary bias.

  • Prices in the restaurant "At the Chalice"(menu in Russian)
  • (our review)

On the facade of the restaurant, two signs flaunt at once: “At the Chalice” and “At the Schweik”.

At the entrance to the institution you are met by the good soldier Schweik himself.

The best beer Prague: most of all in the beer "U Chasha" we liked fried cheese and massive chandeliers under the ceiling.

Beer "U Schweik" in Prague is decorated with quotes from Yaroslav Hasek and other smart people.

9th place: Lokál U Bílé kuželky ("At the white pin")

And immediately a short summary of the "White Skittle". Beer is excellent. The atmosphere is missing. Therefore, only ninth place.

This famous Lesser Town pub is often referred to simply as "Lokal", which, if desired, can be translated as "Local pub" or "Pub where locals go." It is located in a beautiful (are there others in Prague?) side street a couple of hundred meters from the Charles Bridge. The atmosphere here, I would say, is not quite familiar to beer houses in Prague and rather resembles a neat dining room. Smooth white walls hung with diplomas, a pyramid of clean mugs on the bar, photographs and paintings depicting scenes from the life of the restaurant, valiant knights and, for some reason, Michael Jackson create a too strict atmosphere that does not allow you to relax before the third mug.

But if you came here not to grumble about the interior, like some, but to enjoy the beer, you will definitely like it. Light Pilsner Urquell and dark Kozel are served here., as well as useless something marked non alcoholic. There is no menu in Russian and the staff does not speak Russian, but Kozel - he is Kozel, most importantly, put the accent correctly.

A small Russian-Czech dictionary. Delicious beer - Plzenske pivo. Tasteless beer - Klinske pivo.

Local "At the White Skittle" is located in the same building as the hotel of the same name. Perhaps that is why it is too academic for a Prague pub.

8th place: Novoměstský pivovar ("Novomestsk brewer")

Do not order pork knuckle(boar knee) in the Novomestsky brewery! Maybe everything has changed here since our visit, but we categorically did not like the traditional Czech snack here. And this despite the fact that we paid a visit to the Novomestsky brewer even before we visited Ferdinand and U Fleck, where they prepare the best shank in the world.

Otherwise, our reviews about this beer house are only the most positive. Delicious unfiltered beer made from Žatec hops, interesting surroundings of a real brewhouse, ten beautifully decorated halls, convenient location near Wenceslas and Charles Square. And generally speaking, Novomestsky Pivovar is not just a restaurant, but a small beer factory, and underground (in a good sense of the word): the local halls and workshops go three floors underground. Here you can not only have a drink and a snack, but also take a tour of a real Czech brewery - of course, with a tasting. Options and prices of excursions, as well as the menu - on the official website.

  • Site of the restaurant Novomestsky Pivovar(in Russian)

7th place: U Zlatého Tygra ("At the Golden Tiger")

At the Golden Tiger is the legendary Prague beer house, located exactly halfway between the Old Town Square and the Charles Bridge. It opens at 15:00, we were only a minute late for the opening, but by that time the pub was already filled to capacity. Only two places remained free, which we took. But what two places! However, more on that later.

"At the Golden Tiger" - a purebred Prague pub, come here - not only for the incomparable Pilsen nectar, but also for the unique atmosphere. There is nothing to breathe and nowhere to sit down, because of the noise screen you need to talk three tones higher than usual, and the density of people of all nationalities and skin colors here is three times higher than on the Charles Bridge on a July evening. And for all this hell - at most two waiters and a virtuoso bartender of the eightieth level, with all their skills, they still do not have time to serve everyone on time, and therefore they are angry as hell. You already like it, don't you?

And when we were leaving the Golden Tiger, I inadvertently looked back and then I was pierced by lightning: I came to the pub last, and I got the most thieves place?! An overly politicized Russian tourist would have strangled himself to sit in my chair for even a minute! It turned out that I was laughing at the Czechs eating raw minced meat in the same place where in 1994, Czech President Vaclav Havel drank beer with US President Bill Clinton! Then the writer Bohumil Hrabal, who happened to be a regular here, sat down with them, and they drank more and more ... In general, the beer house "At the Golden Tiger" is known not only for its beer, but also for the fact that once two famous politicians were put behind the collar, and one famous writer did it practically every day.

  • Prices for beer and food "At the Golden Tiger"(in English)

Beer "At the Golden Tiger" lurked on such a narrow and beautiful street that we barely inserted the logo of our site without damaging the landscape.

The best beer houses in Prague are not only first-class beer, but also first-class bartenders. At the tap in the Golden Tiger there is an experienced beer master, but even he does not always cope with such an influx of visitors.

See the photo on the wall? This is Clinton shaking hands with Hrabal, in the middle - Havel. Do you see the empty chairs under the photo? We just sat on them. You can be jealous, but we wouldn't.

But in this photo, friends, a really cool guy. When a football player hits a penalty with a “parachute” in the center of the goal, this is called a Panenka kick. It was first performed by midfielder of the Czechoslovak national team Antonin Panenka, whose photo hangs on the wall. This blow brought his team the European "gold" in 1976.

6th place: U Hrocha ("At the Behemoth")

Yes, "Behemoth" does not have a centuries-old history. Yes, this is not a restaurant, but rather a pub or a small and not to say cozy cafe for several tables. Yes, only one type of beer is served here (the incomparable Pilsner Urquell for 40 crowns per mug). Yes, the walls here are shabby and in places painted with all sorts of nonsense. And yes, it's noisy and there's nowhere to sit. But it's great here!

There is such a hackneyed expression "an atmosphere that cannot be expressed in words." So we will not even try to convey it. Just come to the bar "At the Behemoth" ("At Groh") and you will understand everything yourself. But it is better to come early - as already mentioned, there is not much space here and in the late afternoon there will be no free tables (as well as window sills and chairs at the bar counter). Checked. It is believed that the regulars of the brewery "At the Behemoth" are the proletarians of all countries, as well as the Prague intelligentsia and teachers of educational institutions Hradcany and Lesser Country. Therefore, you can even come here just to listen to smart talk about science (it’s forbidden to talk about politics here, as a sign above the bar warns about). And it doesn't matter that you don't understand Czech: it's still nice to be in the company of smart people.

Just do not lean on the pork knuckle here: Behemoth, as you know, has no waist 🙂 And there is no website either, by the way. The photo of the menu is just below.

Beerhouse "At the Behemoth" hid in a quiet beautiful street not far from Prague Castle.

The menu of the restaurant "At the Behemoth" does not hang on the Internet. It hangs on the wall!

5th place: Polo ("Polo")

Let me start our magnificent five with a small lyrical digression. Sometimes you can come across the opinion that the best pubs in Prague are not located on tourist trails, but are hidden in the nooks and crannies of the working districts of Zizkov and Vinohrady. There are, they say, special pubs in Prague not for tourists, old-timers and connoisseurs go only there, and in the center - consumer goods for naive foreigners. This is not entirely true. The best beer Prague - they are in the center, and on the outskirts, and in world-famous establishments, we have always met more Czechs than tourists. But the beer in almost all restaurants in Prague is excellent, and it is not surprising that locals appreciate cozy restaurants close to home more. Why go to the center and push around in a stuffy crowd, when there is also delicious inexpensive beer nearby, as well as always a free table and a warm company?

Nevertheless, we also have no right to ignore the Zizkov region. Moreover, one of our favorite establishments with the uncomplicated name Polo is located there. After our first trip to Prague, we generally considered it the best restaurant on the planet Earth. Not a single beer map of Prague, not a single guide will direct you to Polo. This is a true pub for the locals, many of whom represent informal Prague youth aged 18 to 80. The speakers play real rock (not pop, like in the Hard Rock Café), and the walls are hung with portraits of legendary musicians who have never been here. But the main thing is that this restaurant serves the most freaky pork ribs in Prague, which are served with outrageously tasty tank beer. On an empty stomach in our family, it is forbidden to remember Polo.

And it was also here that we met with a magical drink, because of which the folk trail to the best beer Prague will never grow. As if it were yesterday, I remember a wonderful moment: plump mugs flavored with fluffy foam appeared before us. Carefully tasting the bright, bitter Pilsner Urquell, we bravely ordered a kilo portion of pork ribs with chili and honey. The weight did not bother us at all: we were sure that the promised kilogram would contain 800 grams of bones without meat. And then they bring us a huge wooden round plate, on which lies half of the pork belly, as if it had just been cut from a pig. Lots of meat, all juicy, appetizing. The ribs were different, some of them (about a quarter) consisted of cartilage - just right for beer. There were two small bowls - with horseradish and mustard - and a side dish in the form of cabbage and red capsicum. One had only to try it, as a real fire blazed in the mouth!

When putting out a peppery fire in the mouth, we especially appreciated the bitterness of the tank beer. Which in those moments was almost not felt. Then they ordered another 0.5 beer and another 0.5. The beer was good, and if we left the Polo drunk, it was only from pleasure.

Many Czechs believe that the best beer Prague should be found in Zizkov. We found one of them - this is an amazing Polo restaurant!

4th place: Ferdinanda ("Ferdinanda")

Ferdinanda is not one, but two beer gardens in Prague. The first is located in the New Place, the second - in the Lesser Country. We began to study the reviews and were surprised to see that the Novomestsk restaurant is more often scolded, while the Lesser Town restaurant is praised. We went there, and did not fail, since it was this institution that took the honorable fourth place in our ranking of "The Best Beer Prague".

Ferdinanda is a very fun place in Mala Strana at the foot of Petrin Hill. It's a nice thing to come down here after a walk to one of them and reward yourself with a portion of fragrant beer, the most delicate shank and a kind of Czech humor. One menu is worth it! Some talking pigs, hungry mice, pot-bellied bastards, scolding the European Union with drunkenness ... But the main thing here is the beer "Seven Bullets" (Sedm Kulí), business card this institution. Here, too, the masters of black humor did their best: that is how many bullets were fired at the unfortunate Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914, because of which the First World War broke out. But be that as it may, the dark, slightly bitter beer "Seven Bullets" is simply divine. It is considered almost the most delicious in the whole of the Czech Republic, and it is brewed in the small town of Benešov, next to which was the castle of the murdered Archduke.

  • Ferdinand's website(in English-Czech)
  • (our reviews)

In addition to magical beer, Ferdinand serves no less wonderful pork knuckle.

Some walls in the Ferdinand are plastered, others are finished with rough stone, which gives the restaurant a special charm.

3rd place: Pivovarsky dům("Pivovarskiy Dom")

This aristocratic establishment, a stone's throw from Charles Square, opened almost yesterday - in 1998 - but has already managed to gain an excellent reputation among locals and tourists. The restaurant has a brewery that creates several types of exclusive and delicious beer, from classic light and dark to exotic like cherry, nettle and even banana. You can try all this pampering at a time by ordering a "beer carousel" - they will bring you a wooden spinner, where small cups with different varieties beer. We liked nettle the most. And you?

The brewery house is not just a brewery, but a real restaurant in the best sense of the word. They don’t smoke or yell here, the most fine dining Czech cuisine, here the waiters speak Russian, people come here with families and children. And there is also a very beautiful interior, exquisitely decorated with old rubbish, and in the middle of the hall there are beer cauldrons in which a delicious drink is prepared. By the way, one of the varieties is called Russian Imperial Stout - a clear nod to our tourists, who seem to be the most here.

2nd place: U Fleků ("At Flek")

The Prague Brasserie U Fleku is a real Hofbräuhaus with a Czech accent. This is big restaurant with big halls, big tables, big portions and big trays filled to the brim with beer mugs. With these trays, the waiters walk around the hall, and as soon as you empty your mug, they immediately throw in a new one. Only one kind of beer is served here, but what kind! Black as the southern night, rich as mercury in the laboratory of a Prague alchemist, delicious as... Like beer in the U Fleku restaurant! The local brewers are proud of this divine caramel flavored drink and have kept its recipe a closely guarded secret for centuries. By the way, Beer "U Fleku" is considered the oldest in Prague, it opened already in 1499!

To make your trip to the pub "At Fleck" into a real holiday, an accordionist entertains guests in each hall. A cheerful musician walks from table to table, listens to conversations and, having caught the notes of a familiar language, hurries to please the guests with his native melody. We were entertained by a man with an accordion with “Moscow Evenings” (how did he know where we were registered?) and “Katyusha”, for the English-speaking guests, Yesterday struck and, it seems, something from the early Marilyn Manson. The accordionist accepts tips with joyful surprise, as if for the first time in his life, further igniting the cauldron of universal fun.

“God gave us beer and pork knuckle, and the devil gave us compote and vegetarianism!” The advice of a wise monk to tourists, depicted on the wall of the U Fleku brewery.

1st place: Zlý časy ("Hard Times")

Yes, we are not original and we are not afraid of it. Foreign tourists and Prague old-timers, academicians and janitors, sophisticated gourmets and bitter drinkers - many of them agree that the "Evil Hours" is the best pub in Prague. We wanted to stand out and put something more original in the “Best Prague beer” rating… But as soon as we came here, we immediately understood everything. Forgive me, Fleck, and you too, Ferdinand with the Brewery House (and you, Kalich, you don't have to forgive, we don't care). You are beautiful, no doubt, but you can’t argue against the facts: the best pub in this part of the Galaxy is hiding in the non-tourist district of Prague 4, in a clumsy building with crumbling plaster under a strange sign in the form of a stupid clock.

Pretty bad hours, I must say. And the situation here to match. Waitresses do not flutter here and musicians do not play. Here you can grimly throw yourself with grief and cheerfully celebrate the happiest event in life. "Evil Clock" is a perfect symbiosis of the common folk pub and good restaurant, where every detail says one thing: they came here to drink beer. Ah yes, the beer. By my reckoning, Hard Times has about a million (give or take) beers. There is here both draft, and bottled, and local, and foreign from German broyhouses, Belgian monasteries, and in general from all over the world. But the main pride of "Evil Hours" - carefully selected exclusive masterpieces from small breweries in the Czech Republic. We took a variety of beers here - light, dark, red, wheat, some other - and each time we were terribly satisfied. Sorry, we will not advise anything, because the assortment here changes very often. Just come to the best pub in Prague, feel free to order any beer and enjoy. And if you don't like it, we'll refund your money!

This building is clearly experiencing Hard times.

This article contains information about the best restaurants and beer gardens in Prague. Addresses and websites of restaurants, description of the best places for breakfast, lunch or dinner in Prague. The best cafes and restaurants in Prague, beer restaurants, restaurants with Czech cuisine, premium restaurants, budget cafes, pizzerias, fast food, sushi bars, steak and burger houses, vegetarian cafes and other restaurants in European, American, African and Asian countries.

Every day, millions of tourists enjoy walking around the mysterious Prague. But what can be walks on an empty stomach? Prague is a tourist center, so there are an unlimited number of places for a snack or a full lunch or dinner. It all depends on the availability of time, budget and gastronomic preferences.

WARNINGS:

1. When choosing a place to eat food, you should be careful, as you can accidentally eat not very high-quality, tourist food.

2. If you are lured into a restaurant by some actor's numbers or tricks for tourists, it is better to pass by. Most likely, the staff wants to divert your attention from the low level of service and tasteless food. We're looking for a place to eat, not a circus show.

3. Choose places where locals eat, not crowds of tourists.

4. If you want to eat cheaper, leave or drive away from the center of Prague. And the further the better

So let's go.

Since we are talking about Prague, I will start with traditional Czech cuisine. Not to try national Czech grubs means not to fully visit the Czech Republic.

Czech cuisine is quite heavy and satisfying, but at the same time very specific and tasty.
