Football field cake recipe

Combine sugar, sour cream and vanilla in a container, mix. Soak gelatin in water and leave to swell (about 10 minutes). After that, put on fire and, without bringing to a boil and stirring, wait until the grains are completely dissolved. In small portions, add gelatin to a mixture of sugar and sour cream. Stir constantly during the process.

Cover the baking dish with cling film. Pour the mixture of sugar, sour cream and gelatin, smooth the surface. Place in the refrigerator to set for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Prepare the dough. Break the eggs into a bowl, add sugar, beat lightly with a fork. Add sour cream to the egg-sugar mass. Mix thoroughly.

Sift the flour, add to the dough together with soda, mix. Pour cocoa powder into the dough. Stir and make sure that there are no lumps left in the mass. Remove the filling from the refrigerator, remove it from the mold and return to the refrigerator. Grease the form with oil, pour the dough into it, smooth the surface. Place in an oven preheated to 170 degrees and bake until done (about 25-30 minutes).

Meanwhile, prepare the cream. Combine sour cream and sugar and grind until sugar dissolves. Prepare the mastic: chop marshmallows, put in a metal bowl, pour water. Melt the marshmallows in a water bath - keep the marshmallow slices on low heat until they are completely dissolved. Then remove from the water bath.

Add powdered sugar to the mass and knead until it stops sticking to your hands. Also check that the figures from your mastic do not spread and keep their shape. As soon as the mass gets this consistency, wrap it in cling film and leave for a while.
Use a rectangular baking sheet for baking and stuffing - the field will turn out realistic! Prepare chocolate for marking and making gates. To do this, break the tile into slices, put in a tight plastic bag. Heat up the water and drop the bag into it. Hold until the chocolate is completely melted. Take a sheet of paper. Draw on it the gate of the required size. Cover the paper with cling film.

Remove the bag of chocolate from the water, cut off the corner. Outline the outline drawn on paper. Bend the fragment with the “roof” of the gate. Place the whole structure in the freezer and leave for at least 15 minutes. Leave some chocolate for marking.

Remove the cake from the oven, remove from the mold. Level the top - cut off the mound with a sharp knife. Set aside the cuts. Finished cake cut in half lengthwise. While the cake is still hot, grease both cakes on the cut side with cream. Set aside some cream. Leave the cakes to soak at room temperature or let cool and refrigerate.

Put the scraps in a blender and chop, combine with the reserved cream and mix. Apply the resulting mass on the top and side surfaces of the cake, smooth it. Soften butter at room temperature. Using a pastry brush, brush the top and sides with a thick layer of oil. Place the cake in the refrigerator and let the butter harden.
The most difficult thing is to sculpt neat figurines of football players for the cake! In the meantime, prepare the mastic. Divide the mass into several parts. A green field will be made from the largest. One part will be white - from it you will make the ball, heads, arms and legs of the players. Divide the rest into as many parts as the colors you will use to decorate the figures. Consider what dyes you will need.

Add the necessary dye to each piece of mastic. To do this, you can lightly press down the ball of mastic, pour the paint into the middle and knead, or you can use a toothpick to apply color dotted into several fragments of the lump. Then the dye will be distributed more evenly. Prepare the field. Roll out the green mastic with a rolling pin. The mastic layer should be at least 2-3 mm thick and slightly larger than the size of the cake.

In order for the coating to lay flat, it must be thick. Using a rolling pin, transfer the prepared fondant to the cake and place it on top. Align the corners carefully. Do not be afraid to use a rolling pin for this: the mastic is very plastic, so you will not harm the coating. Cut off pieces of the coating protruding beyond the cake with a sharp knife.

Blind figurines of football players and roll the ball. Reheat the rest if necessary. white chocolate. Draw markings on the field: borders, middle line, circle inside. Preparation of two cakes

"Football field" will be made from a rectangular sponge cake about 35 by 20 centimeters, but you can vary the size at your discretion. So:

  • bake one biscuit cake;
  • cool it and cut it in half;
  • now soak both halves of the cake with chocolate syrup, as shown in the master class;
  • prepare a thick cream or butter cream with condensed milk, first layer the cakes among themselves, hold them in the refrigerator for a while so that they stick together properly;
  • after that, remove the workpiece, with a long sharp knife, cut off the side uneven parts around the entire perimeter of the cake;
  • having leveled the football field, you can start grouting: mix the rest of the butter cream with the crumbs that you make from the scraps of dough, completely coat the cake with this mixture or just cream, level with a wide knife, put the cake in the refrigerator to harden.

Our "football field" is completely ready for further decoration, now you can start preparing the base for the ball cake:

  • prepare two semicircular iron molds, you can use ordinary bowls, coat them with oil and sprinkle with flour a little;
  • cook biscuit dough, you can leave it white or make it chocolate with cocoa powder, as in our master class;

  • divide the resulting dough in half, pour into molds, bake two halves of the “ball”;
  • after the dough has completely cooled down, cut off a little from the bottom of one half (it will be the bottom one) to make the ball stable;
  • now lubricate the halves in the center oil cream, press with your hands;
  • smear the entire “ball” with the same cream and put it in the refrigerator for a few minutes.

Prepare the mastic - here you can use absolutely any, you don’t have to do any modeling, all the corners in our cake are smooth, so both gelatin and regular milk will do. Make it in advance, pack it tightly in polyethylene so that the mass does not wind.

Creating a football field

We will make the football field as follows:

  1. We carefully roll out the mastic on the table, pour the gel dye into it drop by drop until the mass becomes an intense green color, reminiscent of the coating of a real football field.
  2. We transfer the cake to a special substrate, align it in the center.

  1. On the table we roll out a layer of green mastic, if necessary, add powdered sugar or starch.
  2. We wind the layer on a rolling pin, carefully transfer it to the field, release air bubbles with an iron, cut off the excess mastic at the base with a special scalpel or scissors, press the edges tightly, wrap them under the bottom of the product.

  1. Now we need a special edible paper that imitates the pattern on the football field. Such decor can be bought in specialized confectionery stores. To stick it on the surface on the mastic, it is necessary to lubricate the reverse side of the pattern with a special gel or syrup, release air to the edges with your hands or a sponge.
  2. After that, finally level the entire structure-field with an iron.
  3. Gates can be placed along the edges of the cake, they can be made in advance from white mastic, do not forget to grease them with cream or a special gel at the base so that the gate does not fall.

Now you can start decorating the ball, it will take only a few minutes, especially if you make blanks for it in advance:

  1. Remove the prepared round cake from the refrigerator.

  1. Roll out a large layer of white mastic, cut out a small hexagon from cardboard. Using this stencil, we will cut out pieces to create the skin of the ball. The smaller the ball, the smaller the size of the hexagon blank will be.
  2. Applying white mastic stencils, we cut out several blanks, their number depends on the diameter of your sword, it is difficult to calculate, so it’s better to do it with a margin.

  1. We paint the second part of the mastic with black dye, roll out the layer in the same way and cut out black blanks.
  2. Now we glue white and black hexagons alternately on the round cake to get the characteristic coloring of a real soccer ball. Do not forget to coat the back of each hexagon blank with gel, but if the cream is not dry yet, then you can immediately glue the blanks onto the surface of the round cake.

All that remains for us is to install a round ball on the field, after lubricating the junction with cream. Additionally, you can decorate the cake with figures of football players from mastic, make a congratulatory inscription using cream and a pastry syringe with a thin nozzle, and also make a few more small mastic balls and place them around the edges of a large cake. For especially avid birthday fans, you can make a characteristic paraphernalia of your favorite team - write a name with a cream, create an emblem for a football club.
