Cannes best restaurants. Where can you eat in Cannes? Mussels by weight

TOURIST ANSWERS:

There are a lot of restaurants and cafes in Cannes, about 600 pieces, so the choice is really rather big. So, a little more about some of them.

To start, more expensive restaurants

"Le Mesclun"(16 r. St-Antoine)

An excellent French restaurant with a cozy atmosphere, warm interiors and attentive service. We order here seasonal dishes of Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is closed, as a rule, from June 29 to July 08, from February 2 to March 04 and on Sundays at lunchtime.

"La Petite Maison de Nicole"(10 bd de la Croisette)

Very nice restaurant, with white curtains and tablecloths, wrought iron furniture, old wooden floors and traditional local cuisine. Try stuffed vegetables, zucchini pancakes and other southern delights here. The restaurant is closed at lunchtime.

"La Plage 45"(45 boulevard de la Croisette)

Cool modern restaurant. There are outdoor tables. We try sushi and fresh salads here. You can rent sun loungers and umbrellas here and sit on the beach. On the pier there are the most expensive tables, but also the most beautiful and romantic view (about 120 euros for a couple). The service is excellent, but the prices are not low (the most common toast here costs more than 12 euros).

JW Grill(50 boulevard de la Croisette)

A good steakhouse in a great area of the city, with a nice terrace. The perfect place for a romantic date! Hamburgers here cost almost 30 euros. Good wines from the south of France. Although many tourists complain about the slightly slow service.

Carlton Restaurant(58bd de la Croisette)

Excellent restaurant serving French and Mediterranean cuisine. The cuisine is very refined, intricate and expensive. Where, if not here, to taste real French delicacies? A huge selection of wonderful wines, the most delicate fish, oysters, scallops, lobsters, foie gras, cold meats, delicious desserts, cheeses and much more. The hall is very beautiful! By the way, the restaurant has a dress code, so dress smartly. The average bill for dinner is about 70 euros per person, including drinks. There is a buffet system, and quite unusual (especially for those who have seen the buffet only in Egypt and Turkey). Perhaps one of the best restaurants in the city, you will definitely not be disappointed!

Here restaurants where you can not only have a bite to eat, but also have fun.

"Tantra" (13 Rue du Docteur Gérard Monod)

Plus the Loft Lounge located above this restaurant and open after 11pm. This is a classic French restaurant that attracts the city's fashionistas and tourists. The decor of the hall - beautiful stone walls, luxurious seating areas, unusual sculptures and works of art, rope chandeliers - these are just some of the details of this unusual restaurant, ideal for a cozy evening with a glass of champagne. The lounge also has a dance floor where popular DJs perform at night. There is also a terrace with bright orange chairs and small tables - the perfect place to get some fresh air.

Morrison's Irish Pub(10 Rue Teisseire)

Although this Irish pub is located next to the main shopping street Rue d "Antibes, the bar can be called a salvation from the luxurious interiors of its brilliant neighbors. This is a cozy country-style bar with dark wooden tables, whiskey barrels, lanterns, a TV with large screen (respectively, sports matches are broadcast here) and other paraphernalia of a pub. music on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays often includes rock, jazz, or Irish music The DJ performs here every night except Wednesdays In terms of prices for drinks, beer is from €6, wine is from €4 per glass, other alcoholic drinks and shots from €5. On Sundays after 9 pm there is a large crowd for the Ladies Night party, when women are given significant discounts on drinks. The bar is open daily from 5 pm to 2 am.

Also, restaurants-lounges can be attributed to places of this kind. "Bâoli", "Au Bureau" and "Down Town", which I wrote about here: http://site/France/Cannes/fun/1135056/

Now restaurants and cafes where you can have a bite to eat relatively cheaply.

El Regal(3 Place Cornut Gentille)

We buy hearty hamburgers, kebabs, french fries and ice cream here. In short, a typical fast food restaurant. The dining area consists of 4 or 5 plastic tables. Huge portions! Excellent value for money and quality. Friendly owner who helps with English food choices, Wi-Fi access and more. Perhaps it is not always so clean there, but it is fast and tasty - from 5 euros.

Pat & Jo Cafe(3 Rue Moliere)

Real pleasure! The cafe is always fresh products, it is always clean, and they also serve amazing cheesecakes and juicy bagels. In addition to this, the value for money is excellent, which is rare in this city - mostly more expensive restaurants here.

Jean Luc Pele La Table(3 rue du 24 Aout)

A cute diner where you can taste the most delicious desserts at very low prices. Be sure to order dark chocolate and mousses here. On the other hand, you can have a good snack here - salads, sandwiches with chicken, ham or salmon, and even foie gras.

Pizza Shop Cannes la Bocca(5 Avenue Michel Jourdan)

Nice pizzeria for home delivery. Delicious and cheap! The kids will definitely love it.

Quai 13(13 boulevard Jean Hibert)

This is the cutest beer garden with outdoor seating. Maybe not the best service (and the way you have to), but the lasagna and baked snapper there are just licking your fingers! One can have a very tight lunch here for about 15 euros.

"Le Bistrot Gourmand"(10 rue du Dr Gazagnaire)

This is not the cheapest restaurant, but at least the prices there are much lower than in other similar establishments, and the quality of food and service are top notch. The atmosphere is simple but cute, and it's delicious without exception! It is located a short distance from the embankment, there are few people there, and the seafood is the freshest. Even the most demanding will like it here.

Helpful answer?

Cannes is associated among connoisseurs not only with the famous film festival, but also with excellent cuisine. The city has an impressive number of restaurants proudly featured in popular European travel guides or Michelin-starred. Naturally, the price on the menu of such restaurants is fully consistent with their status, but if you want to taste something like that, then you can definitely look into one of them. I will say right away that in summer tables can often be occupied by celebrities and European bohemians, so it is better to book them in advance. True, this applies to the most elite establishments. For ordinary tourists, ordinary restaurants or cafes are more accessible, which can also be found in sufficient quantities in different parts of the city.

Among the best restaurants in the city, one can single out Le Palme d’O, an excellent restaurant with two Michelin stars. Its terrace offers a stunning view of the city, the chefs really know their job and treat each dish as a work of art, and the overall atmosphere resembles a picture from a movie. The only thing that can confuse is the very impressive prices on the menu, although to each his own and someone will undoubtedly be able to afford such a pleasure.

In addition, the restaurants Mon Rêve de Gosse (one Michelin star) and the traditional restaurant Mantel are very popular with connoisseurs of gastronomy.

As for more budgetary establishments, they should be looked for somewhere in the Suquet and Forville area, although walking along the streets you can even accidentally stumble upon a quite nice establishment. Of those that impressed me, I can mention the Les Bons Enfants restaurant, among whose signature dishes special attention should be paid to stewed rabbit with rosemary, Provencal pate and traditional salads, as well as the budget La Creperie pancake, delighting visitors with delicious fresh pancakes and fragrant coffee. In addition, you can have a good time in the cozy atmosphere of the La Cave restaurant, which specializes in local cuisine, or Le Brouette Des Artisans, decorated in the best traditions of French establishments. By the way, the choice of dishes in the last restaurant is impressive, and their taste will allow you to enjoy the fact that you are in France.

To give a description of all the restaurants of Cannes, in my opinion, is simply pointless, because there are more than three hundred of them in the city, and each of them is remarkable in its own way. In addition to traditional French restaurants, in the city you can find establishments of pan-European, Italian, Japanese, Asian and other cuisines of the world. So, making a promenade along the streets of Cannes, all that remains is to look around and look for a place you like for lunch or dinner. By the way, in many Cannes hotels there are quite decent restaurants, which you can also look into if you wish. What is especially convenient in Cannes, and in most French restaurants on the coast, is the menu posted at the entrance. You can just come, look and either go inside or go further in search of a more suitable place.

And of course, it is hard to imagine any French city without croissants and fresh baguettes. And for them, I would recommend going to the Moulin de Paiou bakery. There you can not only buy ready-made cherished pastries, but also arrange a sandwich from the products you like on the spot. And if you are used to our modest sandwiches, more like a sandwich, then here it is almost half a baguette, cut lengthwise and stuffed with the most delicious and fresh meat or vegetables. In general, goodbye figure!

As for the general characteristics of traditional Provencal cuisine and what distinguishes it from other regional gastronomy, it is, of course, dishes with traditional aromatic herbs (for example, rosemary or thyme), all kinds of sauces and a harmonious combination of meat and sea delicacies in cooking. One of the most unusual, but very exquisite dishes, is bouillabaisse, which once appeared in Marseilles - a complex fish soup made from several varieties of fish and shellfish, often grated and seasoned with traditional spices. And although someone is embarrassed by the fact that it may contain allergenic whiting (it is not always and everywhere added), the taste is so incredible that you willy-nilly fall in love with this dish. At least, connoisseurs of sea delicacies will definitely like it.
If you are indifferent to seafood, then you can try vegetable soup pistu (it includes potatoes, zucchini, beans, carrots, and so on) or ratatouille - a vegetable roast made from eggplant, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes with the addition of herbs (in particular, basil) and garlic.

In addition, you can often find unusually cooked meats, such as lamb or rabbit, as well as a wide variety of seafood dishes (from fresh mussels and oysters to stuffed lobsters and crabs), although the presence of the latter, of course, has imposed its coastal location of the resort.

The legendary Provencal sauces deserve special mention, without which it is difficult to imagine the local cuisine. There are so many of them (or rather, their variations) that you can even get a little confused. But among the most popular is homemade garlic mayonnaise aioli, made from olives, anchovies and capers, often topped with pureed nuts, tapenades, and basil pesto.

In the photo: toast with tapenade.

For dessert, you can order either an open cake with almonds or berries, or light cakes. But one thing is certain - for lunch or dinner you should definitely order a bottle of wine made from grapes grown somewhere nearby. After all, this is a real wine-growing region that can give real pleasure to connoisseurs of noble drinks.

Beaches in Cannes:

Cannes has one of the best beaches on the French Riviera.

Last week, the 63rd Film Festival opened in Cannes. For most people, Cannes is a chic resort and one of the most social places in Europe. Not everyone knows that a humble fishing village became what it is today thanks to a plate of well-cooked fish stew.

In 1834, a wealthy English aristocrat, the former Lord Chancellor Henry Broughham, was crossing the Var River on his way to Italy for a holiday. Then an epidemic of cholera broke out, and, waiting for it, the Englishman found himself in an inn at Cannes. There the owner served him a simple peasant dish, buaybez. This meeting of the lord with Provencal soup became decisive in the fate of Cannes. Broughham not only built a large house here himself, but also convinced his wealthy friends to do the same, and then even financed the construction of a new harbor. The monument to Henry Brougham stands obliquely from the festival palace, where film screenings are held annually.

This year, according to the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal, simple Provencal food will be considered fashionable. On this occasion, a number of well-known Cannes restaurants have updated their menus, and new establishments specializing in regional cuisine have also opened. La Petite Maison, a restaurant flaunting simple dishes and waiters in white shirts embroidered with tous celebres ici (“we are all famous here”), serving not black caviar, but tapenade for an appetizer, has been updated at the famous Majestic Hotel. On white tablecloths next to bottles of olive oil, fresh tomatoes on twigs and lemons are casually laid out.

Of course, this is a rather exotic way to get acquainted with the cuisine of Provence. It is much more organic (not to mention saving) to try Provencal dishes in the outback, where they are prepared without encroaching on fashion and the vagaries of secular celebrities. In any case, the basis of Provence cuisine is fresh local vegetables, berries and fruits, sausages, bread, cheeses and wine (especially rose). And all this is best seen, smelled and tasted in any of the markets that are in every city in the region, which we actually did when moving from one city of Provence to another.

It is in the market that you learn that tapenade is not only olive, but also, for example, from dried tomatoes. A tapenade vendor offers half a dozen different types of tapenade. which is spread on a toasted piece of bread. And nearby they sell what it is made of: dozens of types of olives, dried tomatoes, and everything else that is clearly visible in the pictures. Probably, only in Provence you will see how freshly cut lilacs and young carrots are displayed on the same counter. Such is the Provencal still life.

- a joy for a gourmet. As in all of France, in this city on the Cote d'Azur you can find various restaurants, cafes, bistros. The list of the most popular is extensive, but it is still possible to single out some establishments. They are distinguished by a long history, the best chefs and other features.

Kitchen and interior: great neighborhood

Many Cannes restaurants can offer their visitors an excellent mix of bright, memorable interiors and no less exquisite cuisine. Among them it is worth noting:

  • Restaurant LaPalmed`Or

This institution boasts thirty years of tradition, and in addition, it has a keenly felt festival mood. The interior of the hall makes it clear why all the movie stars are eager to come to Cannes, and the dishes are often named after the winning films. The restaurant has a two-star rating and is closed on Mondays and Sundays.

  • Restaurant Le Caveau des années 30

This institution attracts by the fact that it resembles a factory of the 30s of the last century. If we talk about the menu, then in the restaurant seafood dishes are held in high esteem, as well as traditional local cuisine, which impresses both newcomers to Cannes and old-timers of the city. It works every day, however, according to a special regime - from 12 to 15 and from 19 to 23 hours.

  • Restaurant Aux Bons Enfants

The restaurant is located near the Forville market, and the local chef is known far beyond Cannes. He offers his customers only fresh vegetable and fish dishes, all accompanied by a jug or two of Provencal wine. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays and is closed throughout December.

  • Restaurant Côté Jardin

The restaurant is known for popularizing traditional French cuisine. Since the location of the restaurant is excellent (it is very close to the Croisette), there are not always places in it. The menu, where it is easy to find rustic dishes of vegetables, meat and fish, is posted on the board at the entrance. The restaurant is open seven days a week, from 12-15 to 13-45, and then from 19-15 to 22-00.

  • Restaurant Le Mesclun

The main difference of this institution is in the cult of Mediterranean cuisine that reigns in it. A lot of wood is used in the interior decoration, and the colors of the furniture contribute to an incredibly cozy atmosphere. The menu of this restaurant in Cannes changes depending on the season, the restaurant is open only in the evenings, and on Sunday you won’t be able to eat there.

  • Restaurant La Place de Mougins

This institution has become famous all over the world, therefore almost all guests of Cannes dream of dining in it. The zest of the institution is in the creative approach to menu preparation: for example, the chef chooses the product of the month and conjures around it, offering gourmets original dishes. If in May this product is an artichoke, you should expect incredible dishes based on it. The advantage of the institution is the location, because the restaurant is located on the main square of Cannes. Day off - Monday.

  • Restaurant La Rotonde

The famous institution is popular due to the amazing views of the sea and mountains. The main accents in the menu are made on French cuisine; fish soup and dishes from local fish on the grill are considered to be the chef's highlights. In this restaurant you will not be able to eat only on Tuesday, on all other days it is open from morning to evening.

  • Restaurant La Toque d "Or (La Toque d" Or)

A small and inconspicuous restaurant, bought at one time by the young Trucco spouses, offers two halls, where 28 people can comfortably accommodate. Despite its small size, the establishment is famous for its excellent French wine list, and the menu, which includes original dishes, and a large selection of cheeses, does not lag behind. You can eat at the restaurant on any day except Monday.

Gourmet patisseries

Cannes restaurants are large pompous establishments or small home-style restaurants serving sumptuous fine French cuisine. Speaking of the French national love for desserts, one cannot ignore the pastry shops in Cannes, which are often no less adored by visitors than Michelin-starred restaurants. So, what did Cannes prepare for the sweet tooth:

  • Confectionery Laduree

In this establishment, visitors will be offered a magnificent set of sweets, but the famous macarons will dominate. Light and airy, they come in different colors and flavors, ideally coexist with sparkling wines and cheer up.

  • Patisserie Pâtisserie INTUITIONS By Jérôme De Oliveira at the Five Seas Hotel

A cult place in Cannes now, ready to surprise gourmets from all over the world. The menu seems so large that it will take a dozen visits to explore it. Among the most popular confectionery products are macarons and chocolate mousse, lemon mousse with strawberries and cheesecakes.

You can talk about Cannes restaurants for a long time, but the best solution would be to check all of the above on your own experience.
