Homemade mussel rolls. Baked rolls: recipe with mussels and ham Sushi with mussels

But this time I was preparing a mini portion for a quick snack on my husband’s birthday.

These are my rolls with mussels - dedicated to all lovers of rolls, natural protein and seafood)

I start cooking the roll by thoroughly washing the rice - I rinse the rice until the water turns from white to clear.

Usually this takes at least 20 minutes, but if you skip this moment, the rice will turn from crumbly into a sticky porridge that will have nothing in common with real rolls.

After thoroughly washing, I pour water over the rice and let it cook until the water has completely boiled away.

Moreover, first I turn on high heat, wait until the water boils, then cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to low.

When the rice is cooked, I cool it almost completely, then pour in the rice vinegar, mix thoroughly and let it cool completely.

So, while the rice is cooking, I prepare the filling.

I send the frozen mussels to boil in boiling water, adding salt, pepper, coriander and bay leaf.

After boiling, cook for 1 minute.

Well, now it’s just a matter of making the rolls.

I lay out the sheets of nori with the rough side up, spread a thin layer of rice on the halves of the nori sheet with wet hands, then a strip of cream cheese, and place the mussels on the cheese.

Then, using a wooden mat, I roll the roll, securing the seam with either a damp finger or grain of rice, imitating glue.

Well, then with a sharp wet knife I cut the roll first in half, and then each half into three parts - this way you get 6 identical pieces.

Sushi baked with mussels is incredibly tasty. Therefore, it is worth the effort to prepare them, and you will not regret the time spent. In this article you will learn how to cook baked sushi.

Which will be presented a little below, are very simple to do. Such products differ from fresh ones only in that after formation they are subjected to heat treatment in the oven.

Baked with ham

As you know, there are a great many options for how to make such a tasty and light Japanese snack. In this recipe, you will be presented with a method where a classic set is used, but instead of fresh salmon or salmon, regular ham is used.

So, we will need:

  • sheets of nori seaweed - 2 pcs.;
  • Chinese short grain rice - 1.5 cups;
  • wasabi - add to taste;
  • fresh long cucumber - 1 pc.;
  • beef ham - 120 g;
  • fine sea salt (for boiling rice);
  • ripe red tomatoes - 2 pcs.;
  • hard cheese - 90 g.

Preparation of main products

Before making baked rolls, you should thoroughly process all purchased components. To do this, you need to rinse the short-grain rice until the water is clear, and then boil it with the addition of salt until completely soft (so that the grain acquires a viscous consistency and sticks together well). Next, you need to wash the fresh cucumber and cut it lengthwise into slices with sides measuring 0.8-1 centimeters. The same should be done with beef ham.

Formation process

To prepare semi-finished products for further baking, take a sheet of nori and cut it in half along the grain. Next, place a thin layer of sticky rice on the seaweed and season it with a small amount of wasabi sauce. After these steps, you need to wrap the sheet into a roll, as a result of which you should get a kind of sausage. It should be cut in half lengthwise and left aside for a while. The same procedure must be done with the second part of the algae.

After you have 4 halves of sausages ready, you should take a whole sheet of nori and place 2 parts of the roll at one end with their backs facing each other. On top of this layer you need to place the filling, or rather, several slices of ham and fresh cucumber. In turn, you need to place the remaining parts of the roll on these products and roll up the seaweed tightly, giving the rolls a square shape.

Heat treatment

Baked rolls, the recipe for which calls for the use of aromatic ham, should be cooked in the oven for 14-26 minutes. But before this, you need to cut the sausage into small pieces up to 4 centimeters thick, place them on parchment paper, and place a cap of finely chopped tomatoes and grated cheese on top. After the specified time has passed, the rolls must be removed from the oven, placed on a flat dish and served with some hot and spicy sauce.

Let's make baked rolls with mussels together

Preparing this dish is much easier and faster than the previous one. But before you begin heat treatment of products, they should be beautifully and correctly formed. For this we may need the following ingredients:

  • Short grain rice intended for sushi - 1 cup;
  • nori - 3 pcs.;
  • (it’s better to take sweet “Maasdam”) - 50 g;
  • mustard sauce - 1 large spoon;
  • cheese sauce - 1 large spoon;
  • aromatic mussels in oil - 210 g.

Preparation of semi-finished products

Baked ones can not only be served for a regular family dinner, but also used as a tasty, aromatic and beautiful snack for the holiday table. To do this, boil short-grain rice in salted water in advance (until a semi-viscous state), and then rinse it well and completely drain it of liquid. Next, you need to spread the finished cereal in an even layer over a piece of nori and wrap it tightly using a mat. The resulting sausage must be cut crosswise into eight pieces and set aside for a while.

To make the oriental appetizer as satisfying and tasty as possible, it needs to be coated with aromatic seafood dressing. To do this, chop the aromatic mussels (without oil) with a knife, add mustard and cheese sauces to them, and then mix thoroughly. The resulting filling needs to be placed on top of the finished rolls, and also a plate of hard cheese should be placed on top.

Baking process

After all the semi-finished products are properly prepared, they should be placed on a baking sheet pre-lined with baking paper and then placed in a preheated oven for a quarter of an hour. During this time, the rolls should be completely baked and covered with an appetizing glossy top.

How to properly serve an appetizer to the table?

Baked rolls, the recipe for which is presented in this article, should be served immediately after heat treatment. In addition to this appetizer, it is recommended to offer guests ginger, soy sauce or wasabi. Bon appetit!

Let it cool. Mix the shrimp paste and cream cheese until smooth (if you are using only cream cheese, then skip this step).

Frozen boiled mussels need to be completely thawed at room temperature. Thawed boiled mussels can not be fried or boiled, but can be used immediately to make rolls.

With damp hands, distribute the rice evenly over the entire sheet, not reaching the top edge of the nori, about 0.5-1 cm. Cut the cucumber into long and thin strips, place it on the rice closer to the bottom edge (as in the photo).

Next to the cucumbers, place mussels in a strip in one row.

Place the mixture of cheese and shrimp paste in a piping bag (or a plastic bag, cutting off the corner). Squeeze 1-2 strips of the mixture near the mussels.

Next, use a mat to roll everything into a tight roll.

And now cut each of the 2 parts of the roll into 4 more parts. As a result, you should have 8 mussel rolls.

Next to the delicious homemade mussel rolls, place pickled ginger and a little wasabi. Serve soy sauce along with rolls in a gravy boat.
Bon appetit!
