A classic honey cake in the oven is made from honey-custard dough and baked in separate layers. In a slow cooker, this dessert is prepared using biscuit dough, which allows you to bake it with a minimum of participation from the hostess in the process.

For a classic honey sponge cake you need the following products:

  • 5 chicken eggs;
  • 200 g white crystalline sugar;
  • 5 g baking powder;
  • 150 g honey;
  • 200 g wheat flour.

Many housewives prefer to coat honey cakes with custard, but you can add a little variety to its simple recipe by adding something exotic in the form of bananas.

For this variation of custard you need:

  • 500 ml milk;
  • 100 g sugar;
  • 2 eggs;
  • 50 g sour cream or heavy cream;
  • 50 g flour;
  • 200 g ripe bananas.

  1. Knead the dough using a mixer, combining the products in the following sequence: first eggs with sugar, after turning the mass into a fluffy foam, add honey and lastly add flour-baking powder mixture. The consistency of the mass is suitable for pancakes.
  2. In a greased multicooker bowl, the cake is baked for 50 minutes, “Baking” mode. Afterwards it cools on a wire rack and dissolves into several thin layers. Since different models of multicookers have unequal technical characteristics, when baking a honey sponge cake for the first time you need to set the time specified or recommended by the corresponding program, and during the baking process itself, increase or decrease it if necessary.
  3. For the custard, grind eggs, sour cream and flour with sugar. Pour milk into this mixture and simmer everything over low heat until thick. Then cool.
  4. Puree the ripe bananas in a blender and combine with the cooled custard base. Apply the resulting cream to the cakes and sides of the honey cake.

  1. Without separating the eggs into yolks and whites, beat them with a mixer, gradually adding the required amount of sugar until a light foamy mass is obtained.
  2. Separately prepare a dry mixture of bulk ingredients for the dough (baking powder, cocoa, salt and flour). It must be mixed thoroughly, for example, with a regular whisk, so that all components are evenly distributed in the flour.
  3. Pour honey into the foamy eggnog, continuing to whisk, and then add the bulk mixture in small parts.
  4. Place the finished dough into a greased multicooker bowl and cook in the “Baking” mode. Depending on the power of the unit, it may take 60 minutes or more. A toothpick will help determine if the cake is ready.
  5. For a creamy layer, beat heavy sour cream with sugar. Beating should begin at low speeds, gradually increasing them. Sugar should also be added in parts, and not all at once.
  6. After cooling the chocolate cake on a wire rack, cut it into three or four layers. Assemble the cake by stacking the cake layers on top of each other, after smearing them with cream and sprinkling with prunes. After coating, decorate the top and sides to your taste. We turn on the multicooker to the desired program (in my multicooker it is the “Baking” program) and bake for 50-60 minutes, depending on the characteristics of your multicooker. Do not open the multicooker lid during baking. Cool the finished sponge cake for the honey cake and cut it into 3-4 layers, according to your desire.

Spread the finished sponge cakes with sour cream.

Cake, cake, cake! I have long wanted to try a cake in a slow cooker, but was stopped by the fear that the device would not cope. I was afraid in vain, the slow cooker seems to be able to do everything. Of course, there are nuances; they, as well as my experience, will be discussed in the recipe. As for the result, it is obvious.

Why did I decide to bake honey cake in a slow cooker? Because this is my family's favorite cake. And because I decided to start my cake experiments in a slow cooker with something more or less simple. The multicooker-pressure cooker Brand 6051 with a power of 1000 W and a bowl volume of 5 liters was used in the preparation.

Preparation: 20 minutes. Preparation: 2 hours 30 minutes

Ingredients

To make honey cake in a slow cooker, you will need:

For the biscuit:

  • 5-6 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. with a heap of baking powder
  • 320 g flour
  • 150 g sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil to lubricate the bowl

For cream:

  • 250 g butter at room temperature
  • ½ can of condensed milk

I used walnuts and bananas as fillings between the layers.

How to cook a cake in a slow cooker

Transfer the honey into a ladle and place on low heat; as soon as the honey warms up, add baking powder and, stirring, continue to heat the mass. Gradually, the honey and baking powder will begin to turn white, and as soon as they turn into a homogeneous light foam, remove them from the heat.

In a deep bowl, mix 6 eggs and 150 g of sugar.

Beat the eggs and sugar with a blender or whisk until the mixture doubles in volume.

Pour honey and baking powder into the egg mixture and add sifted flour to them.

Knead the dough. It will turn out a little thicker than regular sponge cake.

Grease the multicooker bowl with vegetable or butter, then pour half of the resulting dough into it, cover the other half with cling film and put it in the refrigerator for a while.

Set the “baking” mode for 1 hour 20 minutes. This time is considered suitable for baking sponge-type cakes in most multicooker models. But it's not that simple. After just an hour of cooking, start periodically looking into the multicooker so as not to miss the readiness of the baked goods, since different models of multicookers still require different cooking times on the same mode. Check readiness with a torch.

I took the risk of baking the entire volume of dough at one time and, to be honest, I regretted it: the poor multicooker was puffing, honestly trying to bake the entire volume in 2.5 hours, so don’t repeat my mistake and bake the sponge cake in two steps.

For the specified amount of dough, it is better to bake the cake layers in a slow cooker in 2 batches.
As a result, you will get two tall and airy honey biscuits, which can easily be divided into 4 layers. Do not remove the hot biscuit immediately from the multicooker; let it cool slightly in the bowl.

While the last baked sponge cake is cooling, remove it away from curious helpers and start preparing the cream.

For honey cake in a slow cooker, sour cream or custard is generally perfect, but I decided to make the simplest one - beat butter at room temperature, gradually adding condensed milk to it. Do not get carried away with whipping, as over time the oil will begin to release moisture and the cream will separate.

Cut the cooled biscuits with a sharp, long knife into cake layers (three or four).

Grease the cake with cream and sprinkle with chopped walnuts. I didn’t soak the cake additionally; it already turned out tender and fluffy.

Spread the next layer of cake with cream and place the sliced bananas on top.

Grease the final layer and sides of the cake with the remaining cream.

Decorate the cake at your discretion, I took the simplest route and sprinkled it with chopped walnuts. Leave the cake in the refrigerator until guests arrive.

Secrets of a delicious honey cake cooked in a slow cooker

To make the delicacy truly tasty, you need not only the right cooking recipe, you need to pay special attention to the products used in the dish:

  • Honey. It needs to be of a liquid consistency so that the dough for the cakes is easier to knead. Thick or candied ones must first be melted; it is advisable to do this manipulation not over fire, but in a water bath.
  • Type of honey. As for the grade of the product, for a delicate honey cake you should choose light honey. The dark one has a pronounced taste and is more noticeable in the dough. It is not recommended to use buckwheat or acacia honey; they will give the honey cake a tart taste.
  • Cream. The recipe for honey cake in a slow cooker, of course, involves its use. For honey cake it is better to choose. Thanks to it, the shortbreads, once soaked, become airy and incredibly tasty.
  • Sugar. For thick impregnation prepared at home, sour cream with a high percentage of fat content is used, and powder can be used instead of granulated sugar. Then the dessert will turn out juicy and fluffy. If the sour cream is low-fat, then between the cakes, after they are soaked, there will be very little cream left.
  • Sour cream. To make a tasty and thick impregnation (cream), the sour cream must be cooled before use. This way it will gather faster and more efficiently into a fluffy mass, as shown in the photo. Advice! Instead of sour cream, and also together with it, you can use condensed milk or cocoa, as you like.
  • Fruits and jam. These ingredients are added to the recipe as directed.
  • Baking powder. If this ingredient is used instead of soda, it is added at the very end of the batch.

Step-by-step recipe for making a classic honey cake in a slow cooker

Honey cake in a slow cooker is a simplified version of preparing the traditional classic, the only difference being that no steam bath is needed. There is no need to roll out the shortcakes - this saves both time and effort on preparing the dessert. This traditional, step-by-step recipe for making honey cake is provided for those who have never baked it, but really want to try the real taste of honey cake. The cooking process is quite simple; every housewife can do it herself. The ingredients are accessible and inexpensive, and most importantly, natural and healthy.

For the cakes you will need:

  • 3 cups wheat flour;
  • 2 chicken eggs;
  • A glass of granulated sugar;
  • Baking powder - 1 small spoon;
  • 3-4 large spoons of honey.

Ingredients for impregnation and decoration:

  • Egg;
  • 200 g cooking butter;
  • 1 large spoon of fat sour cream;
  • 3 large spoons of powdered sugar (sugar);
  • A handful of crushed walnuts.

Dough preparation scheme:

  1. The dough for a classic honey cake is prepared in a ladle over very low heat, you need to melt the honey a little, add baking powder and, slowly stirring, heat until the mass becomes homogeneous in consistency and turns white in color (turns into light foam).
  2. In another container, beat the sugar and eggs with a dough whisk until the mass doubles. It is better to do this with a mixer at high speed.
  3. Honey with baking powder and flour are added to the resulting mass. Knead the dough until the consistency is slightly thicker than traditional biscuit.
  4. The multicooker bowl is greased with vegetable or butter. Then half of the dough is poured into it, the second is covered with parchment and melted in the refrigerator for a while.
  5. In the multicooker itself, set the “Baking” program and place a bowl of dough in it for about 70 minutes. Advice! This time is the most optimal for baking biscuits in any model.
  6. However, after 60 minutes, you need to look into it more often so as not to miss the readiness time, since the power of each multicooker is different and so is the baking time. Check readiness with a splinter.
  7. After baking the first portion, which should turn out to be a fluffy, aromatic and tall honey sponge cake, put the second portion of dough into the multicooker. And they begin to prepare the impregnation. Important tip! There is no need to immediately remove the baked biscuit from the bowl; let it cool a little.
  8. After baking the second part of the dough can be cut into plates. Their number depends on personal preferences, but there should be at least 4. That is, two cakes are cut into two layers.

Important! The cakes immediately pulled out of the multicooker are very soft to the touch and fluffy, but after cooling they harden and “settle” a little - this is normal and there is no need to be alarmed. After soaking, they will become soft and fluffy again.

Preparation of impregnation:

  1. The preparation of the cream for the honey cake is also carried out in a steam bath; first, an egg and sweet powder (sugar) are sent there. Everything is whipped well (here it is better to use a mixer).
  2. After the sugar has dissolved and mixed a little, add sour cream, continuing to whisk the suspension all the time.
  3. Remove from the water bath and leave to cool.
  4. Before preparing the cream, you need to remove the butter from the refrigerator so that it softens a little. After the impregnation has cooled a little, add oil to it and beat the mixture again for about 8 minutes until completely thickened.
  5. The cream is ready and you can spread it on the cakes. Each one is smeared separately: first, a layer of impregnation is applied to the bottom one, time is given for it to drain, then the second plate is placed on it, and so on.
  6. The next, final stage is preparing the decoration for the cake. We offer a very simple recipe, it cooks quickly and looks original. For this you will need a blender. Trimmings from shortbreads and walnuts are sent into it. Everything is thoroughly crushed. The result should be a medium crumb. The sides of the cake and the top are coated with it. For those who love chocolate, you can grate it and sprinkle crumbs on top.
  7. The honey cake is placed in the refrigerator for 4 hours to soak.

Advice! Cakes baked according to the scheme that we have just examined step by step can be prepared for future use. They can be stored for a long time, and the cream can be prepared on the eve of a celebration or the arrival of guests. This significantly saves time and effort. The cakes are stored like regular cookies, that is, at room temperature, with the lid slightly open (so that air circulates and the honey cakes do not get damp).

Honey cake “Beehive”

Let's look at how to cook this honey cake in a slow cooker step by step, a photo and visual aid are attached. The proportions are given for a cake weighing 1 kg.

For the cakes you need to stock up:

  • wheat flour – 250 g;
  • chicken egg – 1 piece;
  • granulated sugar – 100 g;
  • butter – 40 g;
  • soda - a small spoon;
  • honey – 60 g.

For impregnation (cream) you will need:

  • 400 g sour cream;
  • 150 g cream 33%;
  • Condensed milk – 1 can or 180 g;
  • 2 large spoons of honey.

The instructions for preparing the cakes are as follows:

  1. Combine the egg with sugar and beat lightly.
  2. Then add: honey, soda and oil. Mix everything thoroughly and set to heat until the mass transforms into a dark golden color.
  3. The contents are removed from the stove, flour is added to it and kneaded.
  4. The finished dough is baked as in the previous recipe.

Scheme for preparing the cream:

  1. Mix together in one container: sour cream, condensed milk, honey and cream. Beat everything thoroughly with a mixer to obtain a homogeneous fluffy mass. The sides of the cake can be decorated with a sprinkle of walnuts and leftover cake layers, and the top can be decorated with figurines of bees made from cream and honeycombs.
  2. Bee figurines: Prepare ganache from chocolate (85 g), cream (1/3 cup) and honey (2 small spoons). After the mass has cooled, it is placed in a pastry bag, from which, squeezing out the contents, the body of the bee is formed. First the head, then, without stopping the stream, the body. The eyes and stripes are made from white chocolate using a pastry syringe. Wings are also formed from it (almond slices can be used for this purpose).
  3. Preparing the honeycomb: Bubble plastic wrap will help achieve the honeycomb effect. It is used for transporting household appliances and similar items.
    There is no need to lubricate the film with anything. In order to leave an imprint of bubbles on the cream, gelatin is added to its part (to decorate the top of the cake). Otherwise, you won’t be able to achieve such an imprint – this is very important to remember. From the total mass of the cream, a part is selected for decoration and dissolved and melted gelatin is added to it. You need to wrap the top of the cake with bubble wrap, press it down a little and put it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes. During this time, the impregnation will cool down and the honeycomb will set. After the specified time has expired, the cake is removed from the refrigerator, the film is removed, and the bees are placed on the honeycomb.

  • It is better to lubricate the frying bowl of the multicooker with butter; the vegetable oil will be absorbed into the dough and the cakes may stick to its surface.
