Do you think beets go well with chocolate? It matches and how! This is how you can bake beetroot pie for tea. It turns out with a pleasant chocolate aroma and spicy notes of cinnamon. This baking is economical, incredibly healthy and does not require a long time for preparation and baking itself.

Chocolate beetroot pie - recipe with photo step by step

  • 45 grams of flour;
  • 350 grams of raw beets;
  • 50 grams of sugar;
  • 30 grams of raisins;
  • 15 grams of cocoa powder;
  • 10 grams of chopped cinnamon;
  • 2 chilled eggs;
  • kernels of 4 walnuts;
  • 5 grams of soda.

Cooking:

1. Grate peeled beets.


3. Subsequently, the separated proteins will need to be whipped with a mixer until foamy, at least 15 minutes in duration.


5. Since nuts and raisins are present in our beetroot pie, it is recommended to first pour boiling water over the latter, then leave for 15 minutes.

Instead of cocoa powder, 1/3 of a bar of grated dark chocolate can be added to the beetroot pie dough.

At first glance, there is nothing to do with beets in a pie, especially chocolate. But the vegetable ceases to look like a "foreign body" if we recall its sweetish taste and the fact that sugar is made from beets. It remains only to make sure in practice that such different main accents - chocolate and beetroot - can eventually create an excellent duet.

In order for the root crop to become an ingredient in the pie, it is boiled, chopped in a blender, combined with vegetable oil, and only then put into the dough. It turns out amazing: soft, slightly falling apart, but at the same time well baked. The vegetable does not interrupt the chocolate aroma of baking, but gives it a very peculiar color. The taste is also unusual, forcing to savor each slice. Hot or warm beetroot chocolate pie is especially good - then chocolate is “brighter” in it. But as it cools, beets begin to make themselves felt more and more, which may not be to everyone's liking.

Ingredients

  • beets 200 grams
  • cocoa 2 tbsp. heaped spoons
  • wheat flour 1.5 cups
  • baking powder for dough 1 pack
  • chicken egg 3 pieces
  • sugar 1 cup
  • sunflower oil two thirds of a glass
  • semolina 1 tbsp. a spoon
  • raisins - a handful
  • walnut - a handful.

Cooking

    Wash the beets, cover with cold water and send to the stove to cook. After 40-50 minutes, the vegetable will be ready. Transfer it to ice water so that the peel is subsequently removed with a slight movement of the hand.

    There is another way to cook beets. Wash the root crops, peel and chop into large pieces. Put them in a microwave-safe dish, pour half a glass of water and send them to the microwave. Please note: the dishes must be with a lid. At maximum power, the beets will be ready in 10 minutes.

    Puree boiled beets with a blender. Then pour in almost a glass of sunflower oil (refined) and mix well with a whisk. Sunflower oil can be replaced with any other vegetable oil.

    In a separate bowl, mix one and a half cups of flour, two tablespoons with a slide of cocoa powder, a bag of baking powder and a tablespoon of semolina.

    Mix the dry ingredients well to make it easier to knead the dough. Flour must first be sifted through a sieve.

    Carefully sort out a handful of walnuts, removing pieces of partitions and fragments of the shell. Chop the nuts. Wash the raisins, dry them and chop them too if they are large.

    Mix three chicken eggs and a glass of sugar and beat well with a mixer.

    In a large bowl, combine the four groups of ingredients: pureed beets, flour, raisins with walnuts and beaten eggs.

    Knead the dough. Its consistency is ordinary, the smell is almost pure chocolate, but the color is surprising - strong beetroot interrupts even dark chocolate dough.

    Lubricate the baking dish with sunflower oil and transfer the finished dough into it. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and send the chocolate cake with beets to bake. After 50 minutes, you can check it for readiness with a wooden toothpick.

    The top of the pie can be decorated with boiled condensed milk or jam, sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Step 1: prepare the walnuts.

Pour the walnuts into the blender bowl and grind at high speed for 1–2 minutes. We try to chop the component as small as possible.

Step 2: Prepare the flour mixture.


Pour flour, baking powder for dough, as well as cocoa powder into a sieve and, mixing everything with a tablespoon, sift into a small bowl.

Step 3: prepare the beets.


We thoroughly wash the beets under running water and peel them with a knife. Put the component on a cutting board and cut into 2-4 parts. Then we grind each of them with a fine grater directly into a free small bowl and leave it aside for a while.

Step 4: prepare the eggs.


Using a knife, break the egg shells, and pour the yolks with proteins into two clean bowls.

Step 5: Prepare the egg yolks.


Pour sugar into a bowl with yolks and beat everything until a light thick mass, using a mixer. Attention: mix the components at medium speed so that the mass does not splatter in different directions.

Step 6: Prepare the egg whites.


Pour a pinch of salt into a bowl with egg whites and beat everything with a mixer at medium speed until soft peaks form.

Step 7: Preparing the Beet Pie - Step 1


In a medium bowl, alternate ingredients such as chopped beets, ground nuts and flour mixture. Using a tablespoon, mix everything thoroughly until smooth. At the end, add whipped squirrels in small portions and carefully combine everything with the help of improvised equipment. Everything, the dough is ready!

Grease the bottom and sides of the baking dish with a small piece of butter and sprinkle with flour. Using the same tablespoon, put the dough into a container. Immediately turn on the oven and preheat it to the temperature 180 °С. Then we put the form with the future pie on the middle level and bake for 1 hour. After the allotted time, turn off the oven, and take out the container with the help of kitchen tacks. Attention: the cake should be covered with a ruddy golden crust. Transfer it to an oven rack and leave to cool to room temperature.

At the end, we transfer the baking to a flat wide dish, wrap it with cling film and put it in the refrigerator for the night, and preferably for a day.

Step 8: Prepare the frosting.


Pour the icing sugar into the mixer bowl and pour the lemon juice. Beat the ingredients on a turbo mode until a thick mass is formed. Attention: this action needs to be done in 5–7 minutes before we take the cake out of the fridge and serve it to the dessert table.

Step 9: Preparing Beet Pie - Step 2


Take the cake out of the fridge and pour over the icing. Attention: If desired, pastries can be decorated with walnuts. Using a knife, cut the dish into portioned pieces and serve to the dessert table along with tea or coffee.

The pie will turn out very sweet if you add young beets to it. It usually comes in a bright scarlet color and is small in size. Attention: try not to use large beets, as they are considered fodder, so they are not so tasty;

Very original and unusual beetroot pie with fragrant spices

Compound:
500 gr. young beets
3 fresh chicken eggs
4 tbsp honey
100 gr. wheat flour
100 ml. vegetable oil
0.5 tsp cinnamon
zest of half a lemon
0.5 tsp soda
juice of half a lemon
vanillin
cream
300 gr. sour cream
zest of half a lemon
vanillin

Cooking:
To prepare the pie, boil the beets until fully cooked.
Cool the boiled beets, peel and grate on a coarse grater.

Add honey, cinnamon and lemon zest to the beets.

Mix well and add vegetable oil, egg yolks and flour to the cup. To stir thoroughly.
Soda to repay the lemon juice and pour into the dough.
Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until fluffy and put in the dough.

Gently fold the egg whites into the batter and transfer to a springform pan.

Put the mold in the oven, preheated to 190 degrees. Bake the cake for 30-40 minutes (depend on the power and type of your oven). The cake should be completely baked, it is convenient to check the readiness with a wooden skewer. Gently insert the skewer into the center of the pie and pull it out immediately, if the skewer is dry, then the pie is ready.

For the pie, you can prepare sour cream, it will take only a few minutes to prepare it.
Mix thick sour cream with lemon zest and vanilla and let stand for a while, literally 10-15 minutes.

When the cake has cooled slightly, carefully remove the mold.
