The pie turned out excellent, they asked for more additions, it’s a pity that I didn’t bake enough. Preparing the onion pie:

First, let's take a look at the dough - it is very easy and simple to prepare. Pour all the flour into a bowl, add the rest of the ingredients. Mix everything, knead the dough.


Cover with a towel and put in a warm place, let it slowly fit itself, but for now let's take care of the filling.

Cut the whole onion into a small cube, and fry until golden brown in a pan. You can take even a little more onion, the cake will be juicier.

Put the filling on a plate, let it cool, and we will move on to the dough, in the meantime it has come up a little - just right.


Assembling the pie

First, grease the baking sheet, or, even better, cover it with parchment paper and grease it with butter - this way the cake will easily separate without any problems and will not ruin its shape. Then divide the dough into 3 parts. Roll out the first shortcake to the size of the mold (a little more to make the sides out of dough).


Spread half of the filling over it.


Now also roll out the second piece of dough, put it on top of the filling. Now lay out the second part of the bow. Roll out the third piece of dough and cover the pie with it. Lubricate it with oil and send it to a preheated oven. My cake was baked for 20 minutes at 190 degrees.

  • sour cream - 60 grams;

  • processed cheese ok - 200 grams;
  • salt, pepper - to taste;
  • vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon;
  • butter - 1 tablespoon;
  • egg - 3 pieces;
  • greenery.

Cooking

As usual, cooking starts with shortcrust pastry. Sifted flour together with baking powder for dough, salt, mix. Next, add butter or margarine, it should be from the refrigerator, not too soft. Cut into pieces beforehand and mix with flour, turning everything into crumbs. To combine the resulting crumb, add sour cream. Quickly combine into a ball: do not knead for a long time. As soon as the dough becomes homogeneous, stop mixing.

Wrap or cover the dough, let cool in the cold for about half an hour. For the onion filling, we cut the onion: there is a sufficient amount of it. During processing, its volume will decrease slightly. How to cut decide for yourself: there is no difference. The main thing is not very thick pieces. In a preheated pan, fry all the prepared onions, fry in a mixture of vegetable and butter. The vegetable will not let the creamy burn, and the creamy, in turn, gives taste.

We achieve a transparent color. As the moisture evaporates, it is allowed to add quite a bit of water so that the onion languishes slightly. Processed cheese should be cooled: it will be more convenient to rub it on a grater. We take a large grater. It is also allowed to replace processed cheese with hard cheese. In general, a shortbread pie with onions and cheese is quite tasty. Cheese, of course, plays an important role here, but not the main one. Mix grated cheese with fried onions and herbs, salt and pepper to taste.

Quickly connect: while the onion is hot, the cheese will melt. In a slightly cooled mass, we drive three chicken eggs and mix again. Our onion filling is ready. We roll out the chilled dough into a layer: it is larger in size than the bottom of the mold in which we will bake the cake - we will need sides. I do not grease the form with anything, I completely cover it with parchment. The size of the form is 24 cm, it is detachable.

We transfer the dough into the form, rolling it onto a rolling pin (conveniently), level it, forming high sides. We pierce the bottom of the dough with a fork so that it does not swell during baking. Pour in the onion filling. We slightly pinch the high sides, covering the cake from the edge. The oven should already be preheated to 190-200 degrees. Bake the onion pie for 30 minutes. Then we grease the edges of the cake with yolk: this will make a beautiful view. Bake an additional 10-15 minutes. Cool down the cake.

I know, I know, not everyone likes onions. And yet I dare to offer you a very tasty onion pie, the recipe with a photo will show the basic steps and convince you that this is a simple recipe with a wonderful result. The finished onion pie looks very appetizing! A lightly fried onion goes into the filling, the filling is made from sour cream, eggs and cheese. And the dough is a complete delight!   • Form or frying pan with a diameter of 16-18 cm, wall height 3-4 cm.

How to make a simple onion pie. Recipe

First, I prepare the dough, and while it is resting, I make the filling. I measure out the right amount of flour, mix with baking powder, salt. I sift with a mound.

I melt the butter to a liquid state, cool a little. I pour it into the flour mixture.

I grind with a spoon. You will get an oily lumpy mass, crumbly. To collect it and knead the dough for an onion pie, I add sour cream. I take the usual, not very thick, 10 or 15% fat.

I'm going through everything again. At this stage, the dough will be slightly moistened, but it will not gather into a bun yet. It needs to be kneaded by hand. I spread it on the table and knead for two or three minutes.

Advice. If it is difficult to knead, crumbles, add a spoonful of cold water or add sour cream.

It will turn out an oily bun, soft, but quite dense. I cover the dishes and leave for 20-25 minutes at room temperature.

Onions will need a lot, the more it is, the tastier the filling will be. I clean from the husk, I pour cold water and cut into half rings. In the onion pie recipe, you do not need to cut the onions finely so that a lot of oil is not required during frying.

Heat the oil in a deep frying pan, add the onion. I fry over low heat, I don’t even fry, but I languish, soften. Gradually, the onion becomes almost transparent, the edges begin to turn golden in some places - this is the extent to which you need to bring the onion to readiness. Do not fry until brown, but sauté.

Advice. While the onion is fried, stir constantly and do not move away from the stove, otherwise it will burn and be bitter.

I add salt and spices when the onion is ready. I put only two types of pepper, but you can provencal herbs throw a couple of pinches, coriander, cumin - a matter of taste.

I spread the filling on a plate, cool. Preparing the topping for an onion pie. I mix eggs with sour cream, season with spices, salt. The eggs were with a pale yolk, to make the filling and the cake brighter, I added a little turmeric. All beat up well.
