Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken drumsticks
  • salt and spices to taste

for porridge:

  • 1 cup wheat cereal
  • 3 - 3.5 glasses of water
  • salt to taste

Cooking wheat porridge in a slow cooker:

Rub the chicken drumstick with salt and spices to taste. Pour a little vegetable oil into the multicooker bowl, place the drumstick and fry it in the “baking” mode for 15-20 minutes on each side.

After frying the chicken, I immediately poured porridge into the slow cooker (I didn’t wash the bowl in the same oil and cooked the porridge).

I prepared wheat porridge using the “buckwheat” mode.

Wheat cereal is an excellent source of fiber, which is so necessary for our body. This cereal is produced from durum wheat. Finely crushed and coarsely crushed wheat groats are sold in stores. Coarsely crushed cereals are excellent for preparing crumbly porridges, while finely crushed cereals are used to make liquid, viscous porridges. Cooking wheat porridge is not difficult at all. The most important thing is to cook it in a thick-walled container (I cooked it in a cast iron). Today I offer a recipe wheat porridge with chicken. The dish turns out nourishing and tasty. By the way, wheat cereal goes well not only with chicken, but also with turkey, goose, beef, veal or pork.

Ingredients

To prepare wheat porridge with chicken you will need:
wheat groats (coarsely crushed) - 2 cups;
water - 6 glasses (for cooking porridge) + 2 tbsp. l. (for diluting tomato paste);
salt, mixture of ground pepper - to taste;
chicken fillet - 350-400 g;
carrots - 1 pc.;
onions - 3-4 pcs.;
tomato paste - 2 tsp;
sugar - a pinch;
vegetable oil for frying meat and vegetables.

Cooking steps

Let's prepare the products.

Rinse the wheat cereal under running water to remove as much flour as possible from the cereal. You need to rinse the cereal until the water is clear, then drain the water from the cereal.

Place the cereal in a thick-walled pan (I cooked in a cast iron) and add 6 cups of water.

During the cooking process, foam will form on the surface of the wheat porridge; it must be removed with a spoon.


Place the chicken fillet pieces in a frying pan heated with vegetable oil and fry over medium heat for 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Salt and pepper the fried meat to taste.

While the wheat porridge with meat is cooking, grate the peeled carrots and cut the onions into small cubes.

Fry the carrots and onions over medium heat, stirring, until soft, then add a pinch of sugar, tomato paste and 2 tablespoons of water, bring to a boil and simmer for 2-3 minutes over low heat.

When the wheat cereal is completely cooked (becomes soft), add the fried vegetables to the pan with the porridge and chicken, stir, bring to a boil over low heat and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat, cover the pan with a lid and let stand for a few minutes.

Delicious, satisfying wheat porridge with chicken is ready. Serve hot with vegetable salad or fresh vegetables.

I really like cooking in the slow cooker. And here is another recipe that I suggest you try. My boys don't really like to eat porridge. And this one is simply gobbled up by both cheeks. I take the multicooker pan and start filling it with prepared ingredients.

I put a couple of spoons of any fat on the bottom, I used melted duck fat, but you can also use vegetable oil. Top with well-washed and de-blocked chicken thighs. Season with poultry seasoning.


Clean and chop the onions.


Peel the carrots, grate them on a coarse grater and place them in a layer on the onion.


Finely chop the dill and onion and place them back into the saucepan. Add bay leaf and allspice.


Take a cup, approximately 250-300 grams. We measure out a couple of cups of cereal. Spread it in a layer on the prepared “pillow” of chicken meat and vegetables.


Pour in tomato juice and cold water, at the rate of 2 cups of cereal to 4 cups of liquid. Add salt. If your tomato juice is salted, then add less salt so as not to over-salt it.

We close our multicooker and set the stewing mode (40 minutes). During this time the meat comes off the bone. I take out the bones and mix the porridge well. By the way, now you can taste the salt. Now the porridge is ready, you can serve it with both fresh and pickled vegetables.

Wash the chicken fillet, dry it with a paper towel, cut into cubes or strips of approximately the same size.
